Intra-action is a concept from Karan Barad meaning that individuals materialize through intra-actions and the ability to act emerges from within the relationship not outside of it. In this understanding, the ability to act does not belong to a single subject or object. Agency is not something that exists outside and then gets applied to a situation. It emerges from within the relationship itself. Humans, non-humans, materials, environments, and forces are all involved in shaping what happens, together.
Things are constantly exchanging and diffracting, influencing and working inseparably. Everything is constantly influencing everything else. Matter and meaning are inseparable, always shaping and reshaping one another. Intra-action helps us understand the world as a process of becoming.
Liquid Boundary <> Narcissus is a prototype developed as part of a research that explores the ongoing relationships between things and how one entity can affect another. Rather than focusing on isolated objects, the project looks at relations as active processes. It investigates how different agencies come together and form something new.
