Articulation

Author: Ayşenur Eryılmaz

Donna Haraway’s concept of articulation looks at breaking down strong binary oppositions such as nature/culture or human/machine. Instead of seeing these as separate or fixed categories, she understands knowledge and bodies as situated and relational, formed through material and semiotic processes.

Her work focuses on creating connections beyond clear boundaries, whether between humans, non-humans, or machines. Haraway argues for a form of knowledge that is situated, accountable, and embodied, rather than objective or universal.

Liquid Boundary <> Narcissus* is an in-progress project that explores how an artistic practice can bring together very different materials to create new kinds of relationships and ways of making. Through small, partial connections, the project looks for possibilities to move beyond simple oppositions such as light/dark or body/object.
